The Celtic Challenge 23rd-27th May 2012

Over five days, I will cycle over 200 miles from Edinburgh to the Isle of Iona, passing through some of the most stunning and unspoilt landscapes in the UK.

Starting from St Columba’s Hospice in Edinburgh, we will cycle to Glasgow, Loch Lomond, Loch Awe, Tarbet and the Isle of Mull, from where we will make the final leg of the journey by ferry to the Isle of Iona – one of the most significant areas of Scotland’s history.

We will cycle past beautiful lochs, ancient ruins and kirks, quaint villages and unspoilt wilderness and will be an experience never to be forgotten.

I also took part in the Glasgow to Edinburgh 51 Mile Cycle Ride back in September 2011

Philip and Kim from All Personal Gifts teamed up with Johnny and Angie from Validus Gym to take part in the 51 mile charity bike ride from Glasgow to Edinburgh on 11th September 2011.

The ride was indeed challenging (for some!) with a fair amount of hills and the predictable Scottish drizzle playing its part, however, with a big dose of determination and encouragement from one another, the team managed to raise £871 for Maggie’s Cancer Care. A big thanks to all who sponsored the team.

Cycling past the finishing line at Murrayfield Stadium, various comments came from the team…….. “Right, put me down for the next one” (Phil) “Think I’ll just chill out for the next 2 hours and wait for the rest” (Johnny) “Ooh I love a bit of hill” (Angie) and no comment from Kim who was looking around for the St John Ambulance and an oxygen mask. Any takers for next year?

Cocktail Shaker

We have supplied 200 engraved Cocktail Shakers with the logo and message. The winner of the UK Competition will go on to represent the UK a the European Bartender Championships, which will be held in Cyprus.  Then who knows maybe the World Final in the UK.

Sauchie Juniors ready for next season

This has been a great year so far for All Personal Gifts and we are always pleased to see our clients enjoying similar success. Take the Sauchie Juniors for instance, as they rounded off their victorious season with a couple of fantastic games against Dalkeith and Beechwood Park.

Says Manager, Fraser Duncan, ‘Our lads have worked their socks off and
if we were offered at the start of the season to still be in two cups
in May and be winning the league we would of jumped at it. It’s a
great achievement, but its only the beginning. I will let the lads and
the club enjoy this success before we look forward to preparing for
next season, which will be tougher.’

The Sauchie Juniors use All Personal Gifts for their engraved products,
which is great as we love to support our local community. We wish the
team the very best of luck, and hope to be engraving their name on
next season’s trophies.

Celebrations included the welcoming of many ex-players including Alan Hansen (wonder what happened to him after leaving Sauchie) and a celebration night with comedians Eric Davidson and Joe Camay. While  poet and sometime football manager, Jim Leishman, regaled everyone with his tall tales.

An exhibition and between ex-players and the current team was held and also an evening dance with the excellently named band ‘Nae Danger’ providing the music.

Factoid for you : did you know that Strathclyde Fire and Rescue have their very own pipe band?  It’s been going since 1948, and was originally called ‘Glasgow Fire Brigade Pipe band’.  Looking at the multitude of trophies on their website, we’re thinking our handiwork must be in there somewhere!
